Invitation to help shape a new vision for Marquis Drive, Cannock Chase Country Park
SCC have engaged the services of Arkwood Landscape Architects to support with a new vision for Marquis Drive and want to hear from the local community. The Parish Council has received the information below from Arkwood:
We’re getting in touch on behalf of Staffordshire County Council to invite you and your network to contribute to the redevelopment plans for the Marquis Drive Visitor Centre, at Cannock Chase Country Park. We are keen to understand how the centre can best serve the needs of local residents/ faith communities/ children and families/ your service users in the future.
The Marquis Drive Visitor Centre is operated by the County Council on Cannock Chase. Marquis Drive offers visitors a number of facilities including a café, a playground and a restored World War 1 military hut showing how soldiers lived at that time. Marquis Drive is a great place from which to explore Cannock Chase and offers a wide variety of educational and leisure offers. The Council is considering ways in which the visitor offer at Marquis Drive might be improved in future.
The importance of community voice
We want to hear from the local community about what you enjoy about Marquis Drive and how you think its facilities could be improved. We want to hear as many perspectives on the future of the Centre as possible.
How local residents can contribute
Below, we’ve outlined some different ways in which local residents can get involved.
Maptionnaire online survey tool: This survey tool asks about how you get to Marquis Drive, how you use the Centre and what you like about it.
You can access the survey here:

Sign up to help organise community involvement (or nominate someone else): We are recruiting local people to begin conversations about the future of Marquis Drive and what would make it a better, more enjoyable place for everyone to visit. These individuals will receive training and materials to run a two-hour workshop with a group of people you already know in the local community. By getting involved, community facilitators will gain new skills and new connections in the community, improve their own knowledge of the local area, and will be paid £11.44 per hour. Anyone aged 18+ who lives near Marquis Drive can be eligible – you can also nominate someone else who you think would be a good fit.
Please participate in either of the above actions via this link:
Other ways you can get involved
We’d be grateful if you’d be able to share these opportunities with your members, networks, mailing lists, and via social media.
If you’re unable to nominate someone from your group to begin the feedback process, we would be happy to provide someone to run a bespoke workshop with your members. This could take place in January or February 2025.
We look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions, please respond directly to this email or to CannockChase@arkwood.co.uk
